Dr Philippa Croy
Kia ora, I am a consultant clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience in psycho-oncology (psychology & cancer).
My work in this field began in London. After completing my Masters in Psychology at Otago University, I travelled to England and worked for 4 years as a research fellow for a national cancer charity. I then returned to New Zealand to do my clinical psychology training, doing my doctoral research in cancer.
Since becoming qualified, I have worked within hospitals across the Wellington Region. I have helped young children, adolescents and young adults adjust to life after childhood cancer; and most recently, I have supported adults and their whānau with challenges relating to their cancer diagnosis and treatment.
I am registered with the New Zealand Psychologist Board in the Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology scope of practice. I am a member of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists (NZCCP), Psycho-social Oncology New Zealand (PONZ), and EMDR New Zealand (EMDRNZ).
My Approach
My Approach
To me, it's important to provide a comfortable and safe space for you to talk about the difficulties you are experiencing; and to build a supportive and collaborative partnership so that we can work together on what is important to you.
My approach is informed by my training in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). I use different skills and techniques from these therapies, tailoring your sessions to meet your needs and goals. To find out more about these therapies, click on the links below.
My strength is not as an individual, but as a collective
